EDUCATION

I hold my College Counseling Certificate with distinction from UCLA Extension, and I'm a member of the Independent Educational Consultants Association (IECA), a selective professional organization for independent educational consultants. I am also a Student Loan Analyst and a Certified College Funding Specialist (CCFS®), the standard of excellence for college financial planning.

I continually visit college campuses, meet one-on-one with educational professionals, and network with my colleagues. My students benefit from an in-depth understanding of how the admissions landscape has changed over the past three years, what colleges are prioritizing and what makes applications stand out.

EXPERIENCE

I have over 25 years of standardized test tutoring experience and am the author of Test Me!- A Guide to Standardized Best Practices. My students and families are keenly aware of how scores factor into admissions decisions and how to leverage standardized test scores to their financial advantage. I’m also the co-author of two guidebooks for students -Say Yes to What’s Next and What We Talk About When We Talk About Financial Aid.

Engagement

I was a featured speaker at College Planning Nights @ Nichols School from 2012-2019. I’ve worked with Gear Up and Say Yes to offer test-prep and college essay writing classes in multiple Buffalo Public schools and I’m the host of the Admissions to Mars podcast.

“Brian played a pivotal role in helping our son consider what his interests were and what colleges would be great fits for him. Thanks to his efforts, Erik was able to raise his SAT score over 200 points, which we believe was a big factor in getting accepted Early Decision to the Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University.

“Brian’s methods are impactful. Over the course of only three sessions, he reviewed Chole’s previous testing and then targeted the areas that he felt would give her the best chance to improve and she was able to raise her ACT score to a 32. As a result, she is now receiving generous award packages. We are beyond grateful.”

“Having Brian’s guidance for the SAT and my
college search was vital towards my early decision acceptance. I have recommended him to many people, and nothing made me happier than seeing him after I got in to Boston University with a merit scholarship. Brian is a great mentor, teacher, and motivator.”
